Dr. Gemma Galdon Clavell is a policy analyst working on surveillance, social, legal and ethical impacts of technology, smart cities, privacy, security policy, resilience and policing. She is a founding partner at Eticas Research & Consulting and a researcher at the Universitat de Barcelona’s Sociology Department. She completed her PhD on surveillance, security and urban policy in early 2012 at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where she also received an MSc in Policy Management, and was later appointed Director of the Security Policy Programme at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC). Previously, she worked at the Transnational Institute, the United Nations’ Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and the Catalan Institute for Public Security. She teaches topics related to her research at several foreign universities, mainly in Latin America, and is a member of the IDRC-funded Latin American Surveillance Studies Network. Additionally, she is a member of the international advisory board of Privacy International and a regular analyst on TV, radio and print media. Her recent academic publications tackle issues related to the proliferation of surveillance in urban settings, urban security policy and community safety, security and mega events, the relationship between privacy and technology and smart cities.

Mariano Martín Zamorano
Mariano Martín Zamorano holds a PhD in Cultural and Heritage Management by the University of Barcelona (UB). In 2015 he obtained a cum laude doctorate (with honors) with a thesis focused on the analysis of the new forms of external cultural representation through the study of the foreign cultural policy of the Catalan Government. Zamorano is specialized in the sociological examination of public cultural policy, not only at national level but also regarding the international public administration of art, brands and identities. He too has an extensive experience in the development of interdisciplinary academic projects -participating in five financed investigations- and has also gotten four individual grants. Since 2010 he has been member of the Center for the Study of Culture, Politics and Society (CECUPS) at University of Barcelona. Within this institutional framework, he developed diverse tasks such as teaching, extension activities and research. Moreover he was Visiting Scholar in the Department of Arts Administration, Education and Policy at The Ohio State University. Zamorano has diverse publications, including various articles in scientific journals, a book in editing process and a book chapter. In 2015 he incorporated to Eticas as Technical Coordinator for the project “The fundamental rights implications of using biometrics in large-scale IT border management systems”, directed jointly by Eticas, CSIC and the Fundamental Rights Agency of the European Union.
Danilo Krivokapic is a lawyer with expertise in personal data protection, particularly in relation to adjusting legal framework with new EU standards. After working for the Belgrade City Administration, Danilo completed the bar exam and joined SHARE Foundation in 2015 to lead the “Personal Data in the Public Sector” project. Since then, he has co-authored several SHARE Foundation publications on data protection and information security. His fields of work and expertise include personal data protection and privacy policies, impact of data-driven business models on privacy, legal standards for information security and cybercrime. Danilo gradutated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Belgrade in 2010.
Communication and dissemination
Elpida Theodorakakou is a Communication expert at Eticas Research & Consulting, with a focus on Dissemination and Impact. With a background in Arts (Hispanic Studies and Drama BA from the University of London, graduate year 2001), she was immediately attracted to communication and marketing and pursued a career in project management. She has broad experience as Project Manager in digital marketing agencies, specialized in online marketing and corporate brand positioning and management. In the projects she is currently working on, she is concentrating on planning dissemination strategies and maximizing impact among a broad range of stakeholders. Specific fields of interest linked to her work include scientific divulgation and the societal impact of new technologies.
